Stow waited until the last minute before drawing level with their hosts Gala Rovers. A lacklustre performance from the visitors did nothing to lift the watching crowd. The first action of any note was in the 17th minute when Anderson pulled off a wonder save to somehow get a hand low down to his left and scoop the ball over bar. Minutes later a full stretch King in the Rovers goal tipped a goal bound Riddell free kick over the bar. Controversy followed when Hewitt sped clear away from the half way line and the Rovers defence with the ball at his feet however the referee judged him to be offside despite him being in his own half Hewitt to compound matters Hewitt was cautioned for dissent when he offered his own version of events to the referee. Just before half time Marzsalek saw King again save well from his 20 yard shot. The home side went ahead just after the break when a back post corner found Hardie who gratefully accepted his free header. The second half saw both teams huff and puff but never really making any direct chances. One minute from the end Hewitson eased past Curran on the right wing and squared across goal for Scott Hunter to simply tap into the gaping net. No sooner had the Rovers spotted the ball then the referee blew for full time. Never a great local derby with a distinct lack of urgency from both sides however the visitors were happy to take at least one point. |
