| Border Amateur 'A' Division new boys Hawick United continued their promising start to the season with their second consecutive win on Saturday. With a strong swirling wind making play difficult, the game got off to a quiet start, but Hawick keeper Fry had to be at his best when dealing with a Rob Hewitson effort.Lavery then troubled stow with a darting run down the left after which he fired in a shot that was stopped by Stow keeper Chris Anderson. As the game progressed,Stow looked the more likely to score and only the woodwork prevented them from taking the lead. Scott Hunter whipped over a cross which Hewitson blasted against the bar. The rebound hit a defender full in the face and the ball rocketed past the post for a corner. In the 34th minute Stow did break the deadlock when Pawel Marszalek hoisted a long throw into the goal mouth which United failed to clear and striker Rob Hewitson touched in a shot from close range. Stow had the edge for the remainder of the first half, but failed to add to their tally. Hawick United opened the second half strongly and Anderson was called into early action in pushing away a Strathdee shot. With 57 minutes gone Hawick drew level through Storrie, who drilled home a loose ball after Anderson had parried a shot. Turnbull then squandered a great chance to put Hawick ahead in shooting wide when clean through, before Stow replied with a sweeping raid that ended in a James Kerr drive rattling the upright. 12 minutes from time Hawick stole in front. Kevin Strathdee adding the finish to a cross ball. |
