With both sides fielding understrength teams and making the most of this match to give some of their younger players a game, it was never going to be an action packed thriller but it did produce some good displays from players. Stewart and Riddell were the pick of the home side who saw several young players make their debuts. Youngsters Bruce Runciman, Tom Kerr and James Kerr all showed up well. Hewitt hit the post from 20 yards in 13 minutes before a fine 25 yard free kick from Riddell saw Stow edge in front but true to form poor defending allowed Redcar back into the game just before half time. Hewitt drew Stow level when he latched on to a Bellamy pass for a solo effort. A draw looked on the cards when with 5 minutes left to play a defence splitting pass saw Redcar sneak the win. In all a good workout for both teams.
